Lockdown — Life Update 2

Lockdown in a couple of days huh…

So, in just a couple of days, we’ll be facing another lockdown. It’s surprising how time flies; it has been months since my last post here. To be honest, life has been quite hectic since the end of 2019. Many things have happened, but let’s start with the basics. I’ve decided to change my layout once again, opting for a simpler design, and I hope to stick with it until the end of 2020.

Now, let’s get back to the topic at hand. Around January, my brother handed me the keys to his old apartment. Thankfully, my parents assisted me in thoroughly cleaning the place so I could move in and start living on my own again. So far, it feels similar to when I was in Makati, but without the annoying train horns!

Moving forward, let’s talk about last month, February. I’m still adjusting to living alone, and my cooking options are limited to using a microwave. Most of my meals consist of instant ramen, which I know isn’t the healthiest choice, but I do get free food at work, so it balances out in a way.

As of now, we’re already in the month of March, and life has been significantly affected by the COVID-19/Coronavirus outbreak. Since Monday, the entire city has been placed under a “partial” or enhanced lockdown, which is set to last until April 15.

The measures included in the partial lockdown are as follows:

  • Food services and essential businesses are still allowed to operate, while other businesses are closed.
  • The number of people inside malls and establishments is strictly controlled.
  • A curfew is in effect from 8 pm until 6 am.
  • Travel in and out of the metro is restricted, except for medical workers, food deliveries, and essential personnel.
  • Social distancing is mandatory to prevent the spread of the virus.
  • Self-quarantine is encouraged to protect oneself and others.

Fortunately, my company has already implemented a work-from-home policy since Monday, so I’ve been able to comply with the lockdown measures. It has been five days since the lockdown started, and to be honest, I’m starting to experience cabin fever. My husband had to return to the US, so I’m currently living alone, which makes this situation even more challenging and lonely.

However, I believe that in a couple of months, things will improve, and we’ll get through this together. In the meantime, I’ll try to be more active on this blog again.

Take care, and I’ll be back with more updates soon.
